The application will be available no later than December 1, 2009 through a link on this page.
All applications must be submitted entirely online—this includes uploaded, electronic transcripts and recommendations submitted via e-mail. Applications or supporting materials sent via postal mail will not be accepted.
Applications and all required materials—including recommendation forms and letters—must be submitted and complete no later than 11.59pm EST on February 25, 2010.
Applicants will be notified of their decision no later than March 19, 2010, and will have until April 2, 2010 to submit all required enrolment materials and secure their place in the class.
To help get you started, here is a list of the required application materials:
PERSONAL INFORMATION Applicants must provide a bit of basic information about where they come from, where they are now, and the best way for Yale SOM to contact them.
ACADEMIC TRANSCRIPTS Applicants must upload an electronic transcript for every undergraduate institution they have attended. For the purposes of the application, these transcripts will not need to be official; however, if you are admitted to the program, Yale SOM will require applicants to send official copies of all academic transcripts before they can enroll.
TWO ESSAYS All applicants are required to answer the following question in 500 words or fewer:
What insights could you draw from a situation in which your best self was reflected or a moment when you were at your best? What does this mean for the things you want to accomplish in your professional life?
All applicants must then choose one of the following two topics and respond in 500 words or fewer:
1. Tell us about one of your role models and how your admiration for that person helps to shape where you see yourself 25 years from now.
2. Imagine you have a documentary film crew following you around to document a typical week in your life ten years from now. What kinds of things would they capture you doing? Where and with whom; to what ends?
TWO RECOMMENDATIONS One recommendation should come from a teacher or professor who can comment on your academic abilities and accomplishments in class; one recommendation should come from an advisor, counselor, mentor, or supervisor who can illuminate either your professional achievements or your accomplishments in an extracurricular area, focusing on your leadership abilities.
TEST SCORES All applicants who have taken the SAT or ACT in the past five years will have to self-report their scores on the application. While Yale SOM will require applicants to send official copies of their score reports before they can enroll, offical scores are not required to complete an application and receive full consideration.
INTERVIEWS Yale SOM may contact applicants at its discretion to conduct phone interviews as part of the admission process.
For more information on the parts of the application and the admissions process, please see our page of Frequently Asked Questions.
Check back after December 1, 2009, when the online application will be available.
